Language and Cultural Electives
The aim of the electives program is to increase the student's language
fluency and awareness of American culture, history, and art.
Language Electives

Creative
Writing: Classes focus on writing a school newspaper where students can
tell their own stories, write about their experiences at the school or
in the United States, educate others about their country, make political
or humorous commentary, create artwork, or draw cartoons.

American
Songs: Classes introduce American songs including traditional folk and
current pop songs. Singing is an excellent way to improve language skills
and vocabulary and learn about American culture.

American
literature: Classes incorporate authentic literature to bring a rich cultural
context to language learning and improve vocabulary.
American Cultural Lectures and Demonstrations

America
Today and Yesterday: The lessons and educational activities provide a
fun opportunity to learn about U.S.history and culture as well as modern
America. Classes include field trips to historic sites.

American
Art History: Classes introduce elements of the traditional American art
with visits to local museums.

Arts
and Crafts: Classes give you a great chance to improve your English by
listening and following instruction. You create your own masterpieces
in studio classes. Cartooning helps you practice authentic dialogs.

American
Dance: School and field trip classes give you a chance to learn English
on your feet while you are learning American dance moves.

Regional
American Cooking: Classes give some local chefs the opportunity to showcase
their cooking while providing rich regional culture of the United States.
