Why Study Chinese? 1.3 billion Chinese can¡¯t be wrong. The Chinese population of 1.3 billion makes up one third of the world¡¯s population. This fact alone makes you understand the need to be able to speak to such a large portion of the world! China has taken important steps to open its doors to foreign trade and integrate itself into the world trade system. The Chinese World Trade Organization commitments should further open China¡¯s markets to help level the playing field for U.S. exports. China is now one of the most important markets for U.S. exports. China¡¯s rising economic and political future make it essential to learn about this giant country, its rich history, language and culture. |
